A Black Project 2025?
Millions of Black and mixed USians share a takeaway from the 2024 Election: a New Reconstruction is underway and this move to take the nation to the 1930s with internet and smartphones appears to be moving full-steam ahead. Half of the nation’s voters said at the polls that — for numerous reasons, most PTSD-inducing for those othered by the mainstream — they are willing at least to tolerate institutional racism, white supremacy, and whatever tyranny and terror it takes to enforce them. With that in mind, a growing chorus of social media voices is calling for a plan to keep Black and mixed people a bit more safe from the however-slim supremacist majority and ultimately free from any sort of return to chattel slavery or Jim Crow.

Donald Trump’s election to a second presidential term has many Black Americans terrified that he will waste no time making good on much of the racist, xenophobic agenda laid out in Project 2025, a conservative plan for the country developed by conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation.
Without question, the document — which includes plans to dismantle the Department of Education, cut Medicaid funding and eliminate student loan relief programs — would have a significant impact on Black people from coast to coast if implemented in its entirety. But Black folks aren’t the type to sit back and wait to see what might happen, so they’ve gotten in formation with a plan of their own – and they’re calling it Black Project 2025.
The idea was first floated on TikTok by content creator @mediabuyingbestie. In a post, she suggests Black people get to work on an agenda in which some of the most talented Black professionals bring their talents to the table and formulate a plan to open Black-owned banks, grocery stores, and other businesses in our communities.
